How we compare
Agency, in-house or freelancer?
There is no universally right answer. There is a right answer for where your store is now, and it is worth being honest about it before anyone signs anything.
| EcomOptix | Typical agency | In-house hire | Freelancer | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who owns strategy | The person on your first call. They stay on the account. | An account manager who relays messages to a delivery team. | Your hire, who is also doing five other jobs. | Whoever you briefed, until they take a bigger contract. |
| Who implements | We do. SEO, content, CRO and development under one roof. | Recommendations land with you. Your developer queues them. | Your team, at the speed your roadmap allows. | One discipline only. You coordinate the rest. |
| What gets reported | Attributed organic revenue, orders, conversion rate, blended CAC. | Rankings, sessions and impressions in a monthly deck. | Whatever your analytics is already set up to show. | Task completion, usually. |
| Time to start | Diagnosis first, work begins once the constraint is agreed. | After onboarding, discovery and a strategy presentation. | Six to twelve weeks to hire, longer to ramp. | Fast to start, slow to scale. |
| What it costs | One engagement, scoped to the constraint. No bundled retainer. | A monthly retainer covering services you may not need. | Salary, tools, training and management overhead. | Cheapest per hour, most expensive in coordination. |
| Biggest risk | We tell you early if there is not enough opportunity to justify it. | Paying for activity that never reaches revenue. | One person carrying knowledge that leaves when they do. | Nobody owns the outcome. |
Based on how these engagements typically run. Your mileage will vary by store and stack.
The Core Problem
If turning off your ads would kill your sales, you don’t own your growth engine.
Most ecommerce revenue is built on rented acquisition. It works, right up until costs rise, an account gets restricted, or a platform changes how it distributes attention. Then the revenue leaves with it.
Rented
You stop paying, it stops working.
- Meta AdsPay per impression
- Google AdsPay per click
- MarketplacesPay a commission
- InfluencersPay for attention
Owned
Built once, keeps returning.
- Organic searchCompounds
- AI search visibilityCompounds
- Brand demandCompounds
- Email audienceOwned outright
- A site that convertsLifts every channel
Paid acquisition should be a lever you choose to pull, not the only thing holding the business up.
Where search is going
Your next customer may never see a results page.
Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini now answer buying questions directly. The shopper asks which standing desk is best for a small office, gets three brands in the answer, and clicks one of them. If your brand is not in that answer, you were never in the running.
AEO
Answer engine optimization. Structuring pages so AI systems can quote them: direct answers, extractable facts, schema that machines parse, questions answered the way buyers ask them.
GEO
Generative engine optimization. Building the authority signals generative engines weigh when deciding which brands to name: entity clarity, credible mentions, and content worth citing.
Why now
AI-referred sessions grew +527% in 2025 (SparkToro). The brands cited today are becoming the default answers. Entering early is cheap. Entering late means displacing an incumbent.
This is not a separate service we bolt on. Every page we build is structured for Google and for AI answers at the same time, and we published our full method: the GEO checklist, 100+ steps ranked by what actually works.
The EcomOptix Growth System
One growth system.
Five revenue levers.
Not five services sold separately. Five levers on one system, sequenced against whichever constraint is actually holding revenue back.
01: Acquisition
Ecommerce SEO
Organic acquisition built around the categories, products and commercial search demand that actually carry margin.
02: Emerging demand
AI Search · GEO / AEO
Buyers shortlist inside AI answers before they ever open a results page. We put the brand in those answers while it is still cheap to enter.
03: Demand capture
Paid Growth
Google and Meta used to capture demand you have already earned, measured on contribution rather than a flattering ROAS number.
04: Conversion
Conversion Rate Optimization
Turn more of the traffic you already pay for into customers, instead of buying your way around a conversion problem.
05: Foundation
Ecommerce Development
Shopify and WooCommerce build and repair work, so speed, UX, SEO and conversion stop fighting each other.
Where we go deep
You won’t be explaining your category from scratch.
Ecommerce SEO is not one skill applied evenly. What ranks a supplement brand is not what ranks a furniture retailer, because the search behavior, the buying cycle and the rules are all different. Pick yours.
What usually holds this category back
Thousands of variant URLs competing with each other, and a catalog that turns over every season.
First thing we would look at
Collection architecture and how variants are canonicalized, before anyone writes a single new page.
What usually holds this category back
Buyers search by ingredient and by concern. They almost never search your product names.
First thing we would look at
Whether ingredient and concern terms have anywhere to land, or whether that demand is hitting nothing.
What usually holds this category back
High consideration, a long gap between first visit and purchase, and trust decided in seconds.
First thing we would look at
What the product page does to earn trust, and whether returning visitors are being recovered at all.
What usually holds this category back
High ticket, long delivery windows, and buyers who compare for weeks before committing.
First thing we would look at
Category pages built the way people actually shop: by room, by material, by size.
What usually holds this category back
Repeat purchase economics, shelf life, and rules that change from market to market.
First thing we would look at
Whether the subscription and reorder paths are visible in search, or buried behind an account login.
What usually holds this category back
What you are allowed to claim is restricted, and the terms buyers use are often the ones you cannot say.
First thing we would look at
Where compliant language and real search demand overlap. There is usually far more room than expected.
What usually holds this category back
Repeat purchase, with intent that splits by species, breed and life stage.
First thing we would look at
Whether the catalog is structured the way owners search, rather than the way suppliers ship.
What usually holds this category back
Thousands of SKUs, where nothing can be fixed one page at a time.
First thing we would look at
Templates and indexation rules, because at that scale only systemic changes move anything.
Not listed? The method is the same. Send us the store and we will tell you which of these it behaves like.

Why We’re Different
Most agencies optimize channels. We optimize the growth system.
The usual setup
Four teams, four scoreboards
- An SEO team chasing rankings
- An ads team chasing ROAS
- A developer waiting on tickets
- A content team publishing to a quota
- Four reports that don’t reconcile
- Four sets of priorities, none of them yours
Versus
EcomOptix
One chain, one number
- One team accountable end to end
- Work sequenced against the actual constraint
- Strategy and implementation under one roof
- Reporting that ties back to contribution
Traffic isn’t the goal. Profitable customer acquisition is.
Why choose us
No ranking guarantees. No inflated projections.
The first call exists to work out whether there is enough commercial opportunity to justify the work. Sometimes the answer is no, and we would rather say it early.
No ranking guarantees
Nobody controls Google’s index, and any agency guaranteeing positions is either misinformed or misleading you. What we commit to is a prioritized plan, transparent reporting and work you can audit.
Named projects you can check
Real clients, named, with results you can verify yourself. Original reports are available during your strategy call rather than summarized into a slide.
Founder-led first call
Thirty minutes, with the person who will own the strategy. Not a closer working from a script who hands you over afterwards.
Specialists, not a generalist retainer
Every engagement is assembled from specialist services. You are not paying for a bundled package where half of it does not apply to your store.
US business hours
Calls and reporting across Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific.
Clear limits, stated upfront
Outcomes vary by store, stack and starting point, and we say so before you sign rather than after. Most clients see ranking movement in six to eight weeks and commercial change between months three and six.
Accountability
The numbers we are willing to be judged on.
Most agency reporting is built to look good in a monthly deck. Here is what we will put our name against, and what we will not say no matter how well it would land.
We report on
All of it readable in your own accounts, not ours.
- Attributed organic revenue
Revenue from organic sessions matched to ecommerce orders. - Orders and conversion rate
Channel performance measured beyond visits and clicks. - Blended CAC
A more honest view of organic and paid working together. - Commercial keyword movement
Buying-intent terms tied to collections and products. - Core Web Vitals
Real-user field data for LCP, INP and CLS. - AI visibility and citations
Brand presence across AI answers and search features.
We won’t claim
Not because they look bad. Because they cannot be checked.
- A percentage uplift with no starting number
- Rankings presented as a result
- Traffic presented as a result
- A figure you cannot open your own dashboard and verify
- A case study the client has not approved
The reasoning behind how we work is published in full on the EcomOptix blog.
How We Work
Four stages. No mystery.
01: Diagnose
Find the constraint
Audit acquisition channels, competitors, site architecture, conversion friction and the demand you are currently missing.
02: Prioritize
Sequence by impact
Rank opportunities by likely commercial impact and how quickly they can realistically move, then agree the order.
03: Execute
Do the work
SEO, content, AI search, paid acquisition, CRO and development, implemented by us, not handed over as recommendations.
04: Compound
Double down
Measure what produced revenue, cut what didn’t, and reinvest into the parts of the system that keep returning.
What you actually get
The first 90 days, without the optimism.
Most agencies are vague about the early months because the early months are not impressive. Here is the honest version, so you can hold us to it.
Month one
Foundation
Technical remediation, category and product architecture, and tracking that finally reconciles with what the bank says.
Revenue will not move this month. What moves is the number of things blocking it.
Month two
Momentum
Commercial pages ship against real demand, the first rankings move, and conversion tests start running on the templates that carry the most traffic.
First leading indicators. Impressions before clicks, clicks before revenue.
Month three
The channel starts working
Organic begins contributing revenue at a level you would notice if it stopped, and begins taking pressure off paid acquisition.
This is the month the argument either holds up or it does not.
Month four onward
Compounding
We double down on what produced revenue and cut what did not. The work stops being setup and starts being accumulation.
The part paid acquisition never does for you.

Who We Are
Your growth team, not another marketing vendor.
Plenty of firms will sell you a strategy. Fewer will build the thing.
The common failure is not a bad strategy document. It is a good strategy document that lands on a founder’s desk, and then that founder spends the next six months trying to coordinate an SEO specialist, a developer, a copywriter and a paid-media contractor who have never spoken to each other. Nothing ships. The plan quietly dies.
We run strategy and implementation across the whole growth stack, search, AI visibility, paid, conversion and development, so the work actually gets done. AI agents handle analysis and execution volume. Humans own the strategy and the judgement calls.

What we do
An ecommerce marketing agency for US brands.
We help American Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento stores turn organic search into a predictable revenue channel, instead of a monthly gamble on rising ad costs. The US market is competitive, which is exactly why compounding channels matter: every ranking, link and optimized page you own keeps creating value while competitors keep paying for traffic.
Ecommerce SEO
Commercial keyword strategy, technical fixes, collection architecture and content built to attract shoppers, not empty traffic. Most US stores rank for their brand name and little else, so we go after the buying-intent terms customers actually search across collections, categories and product clusters.

AI search visibility
Entity clarity, credible content and authority signals so your brand shows up in AI answers. Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity increasingly answer buying questions before a shopper ever reaches your store, and brands without authority quietly disappear from that discovery.

Conversion rate optimization
Slow stores, weak product pages and checkout friction kill the sale before it happens. More traffic does not solve a conversion problem, so we fix the leak first and then send more people through it.

Development and speed
Shopify and WooCommerce builds that protect UX, Core Web Vitals and the performance of every sales journey. Heavy themes, oversized media and unnecessary apps create friction long before checkout.

Every engagement is assembled from these, never a generalist retainer. Platform choice changes the technical work, not the commercial strategy. Start where the revenue leak is biggest, or let the free diagnosis tell you.

Questions
Ecommerce marketing questions, answered straight.
How is EcomOptix different from a traditional SEO agency?
A traditional SEO agency is measured on rankings and traffic, and hands you recommendations to implement yourself. We are measured on whether organic revenue starts taking pressure off paid acquisition, and we implement the work ourselves across search, conversion and development.
How long does ecommerce SEO take?
Technical and conversion fixes can move numbers inside the first month because they act on traffic you already have. Organic acquisition is slower: month one is foundation, month two is momentum, and by month three the organic channel typically begins reducing pressure on paid. Anyone promising rankings in weeks is selling you something.
Do you work with Shopify?
Yes: Shopify and Shopify Plus, including theme development, collection and product architecture, speed work and migrations.
Do you work with WooCommerce?
Yes. WooCommerce is a core part of our development work, including performance, template and taxonomy structure, and replatforming in either direction.
Can you handle implementation, or do we need our own developers?
We implement. That is the point of the model, you should not need to coordinate a separate developer, writer and paid-media contractor to act on the strategy. If you have an in-house team, we work alongside them instead.
Do you offer SEO and paid advertising together?
Yes, and they are planned together. Paid tells us which terms convert before we invest months of organic effort in them; organic then lowers the volume of paid clicks you need to buy for the same revenue.
What is AI Search Optimization / GEO?
Buyers increasingly shortlist products inside AI answers: Google’s AI experiences, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, before they open a traditional results page. GEO is the work of making your brand present and citable in those answers: entity footprint, brand mentions across sources those systems read, extractable page structure, and crawler access. It is early, which is precisely why it is cheap to enter now.
How do you measure success?
Revenue by channel, customer acquisition cost, and conversion rate. Rankings and traffic are diagnostics we use to explain movement. They are not the scoreboard.
What does an engagement cost?
Every engagement is scoped to your store and stage — you get the exact number in your Free Growth Analysis, before any commitment. What it is not: a cheap monthly SEO package. We work with brands treating this as a growth investment with a payback period, and we’d rather tell you the number early than spend two calls circling it.
Who actually does the work?
The same people you talk to. Strategy is not handed to a junior once the contract is signed, and the implementation is not passed to an unrelated third party you never meet. Where AI does the heavy lifting, analysis and execution volume, we say so: it is how we move faster, not something we hide.
What size ecommerce businesses do you work with?
Brands with proven demand and existing revenue, typically $30K to $300K a month, who are investing in growth rather than trying to cut costs. Below that, the constraint is usually product or offer, and we are not the right spend.
